Welcome to Le Bistro des Glycines, a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque village of Les Eyzies, France. Located at 4 Av. de Laugerie, this enchanting restaurant is recognized for its dedication to culinary excellence and has earned accolades befitting a Michelin designation. Whether you seek a charming atmosphere or exquisite gastronomic experiences, Le Bistro des Glycines promises to deliver both.
As soon as you step inside, you are greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance, punctuated by large windows that offer delightful views of the surrounding landscape. The thoughtful decor and inviting atmosphere are just the beginning of what this bistro has to offer. The menu showcases quality ingredients, thoughtfully curated and beautifully presented, allowing each dish to tell its own story. Diners rave about the food; one highlights the foie gras as the best they’ve experienced in France, while others immerse themselves in the indulgence of the gnocchi with cheese and truffles and the refreshing risotto with mint and hazelnuts.
Yet, as with any establishment, experiences can vary. A few guests have pointed out issues with service, particularly regarding the attentiveness of staff to non-French-speaking patrons. While some reported feeling like "an exhibit" due to language barriers, it’s also clear that the restaurant’s focus on food has wowed many. For instance, the desserts, often described as delightful, seal the meal with a perfect sweet note.
Moreover, families will appreciate the kid-friendly offerings available, ensuring that the littlest gourmands are also catered to. However, it’s worth noting, as one family experienced, that seating preferences might not always be honored, emphasizing the importance of communication to enhance the dining experience.
For those looking to explore French cuisine at its finest, Le Bistro des Glycines is undeniably a place to visit. With quality dishes, reasonable prices, and a lovely atmosphere that exudes French charm, it’s no wonder that many diners return here, eager to savor the experience once more. It seems all the good reviews are from the French and any complaints come from non-French people, like us. We can manage in French but our accent (English Canadian) gives us away so when they ask us if we speak English we switch back to English. Three different people came and took our drink order like we were some kind of « English » speaking exhibit as in “Go and listen to them order their drinks in English. It will be good practice for you”. I have to admit the food was delicious and worthy of the Michelin designation but those who were seated after us had their food before us!! We were not impressed! Even though four people took our drink order, no one seemed to pay much attention to looking after us after that and we had to catch a waiter’s eye for any reason after that. Shouldn’t serving and treating all customers the same be part of that designation?

It was so fantastic! Beautiful room with large windows. Benoit, one of the waiters, was so friendly and helpful! The perfect waiter! The food was magnificent! The foie gras was the best we have had in France. The risotto w/ mint and hazelnuts was also so delicious. The gnocchi with cheese and truffles was excellent but quite small for a main course. The chicken w polenta was also magnificent. Desserts were very good too. All of the food was so gorgeously presented and tasty. There is a Bernaise mountain dog named Ted who lives in the attached hotel - sweet but shy. We will come back for dinner tonight or tomorrow!!
